Yes, a lot of Nazis chose to support Hitler wholeheartedly, but not everyone had a choice. One might argue that Jews died the most brutal deaths, but the Nazis also killed the 'imperfects', or the people with disabilities(although it's not mentioned in the book). Numerous people died during the war, Nazis among them. I never realized that young children aged ten and above had to go to camps that prepared them to take part in the war.

Germans who supported Jews were severely punished and were given unenviable jobs in the army. I realized that not all Nazis were heartless monsters and that the war was hard for everyone involved. This is the first time I've read a book written from point of view of an ordinary German. I have read a lot of books about World War Two, most of them featuring Jews who had to go into hiding. To those who do not have the time to read my lengthy review and are impatient to read the book, I have only a few words to say: It's a WONDERFUL book, with some(most of the main characters die at the end of the book) death, a lot of sorrow and a glimmer of hope(No, seriously). I know that almost all the titles of my reviews are in the superlative, but it isn't my fault that people write such wonderful books!Ī quick note to the reader: My reviews tend to be long and rambling (if I say so myself) and one might get bored of my incessant chatter.
